Semi Gantry Cranes
A semigantry crane is a gantry crane with one end of the bridge rigidly supported on one or more legs that run on a fixed rail or runway, the other end of the bridge being supported by a truck running on an elevated rail or runway.
Unlike overhead cranes and full gantry cranes, in a semi gantry crane one of the railways is located in an upper level and the other railway is usually located on the floor. The advantage of a semi-gantry crane is often, that it can be installed below overhead travelling cranes that already exist. This gives exceptionally extensive cover of the floor area.
